Description
In order to provide an excellent esthetic final restoration, creating a provisional is one necessary step in dental implant treatment. Evaluating esthetics of the anterior dentition, shaping and developing the perio-implant tissue/subgingival tissue, and the transfer of appropriate data to the laboratory technician must be considered when creating provisional restorations. A provisional should resemble the projected final restoration, while satisfying sound biologic and esthetic principles. Attendees will learn how to perform customized impression procedures for tissue level and bone level implants that transfer the developed emergence form to the master cast and dental technician. Communication tools and techniques between the dental laboratory and clinician will be discussed. CAD/CAM materials for provisionalization and final abutment options will be presented.
Learning Objectives
- Understand the importance of a provisional restoration to emergence profile and soft tissue management
- Discuss proper tissue management with respect to impression taking
- Select appropriate components for impression-taking at the implant level
- Transfer necessary data to the laboratory for the provisional and final restoration
