Unboxing & First Look: The New G6 Dome Camera from DPC Technology
At DPC Technology, we pride ourselves on delivering security solutions that are simple, reliable, and easy to support — for our clients and our team. A big part of that is keeping our technology stack focused. We believe in selecting only a few trusted models that perform exceptionally well instead of chasing every new gadget on the market.
So, when a new generation of one of our staple cameras drops, it’s worth a closer look — and that’s exactly what we did in our latest YouTube video, where we unbox and review the brand new G6 Dome Camera.
Why We Limit Our Technology Stack
Over the years, we’ve stayed loyal to a simple principle: fewer products, better support. If a manufacturer offers 20 different camera options, we pick the 2–4 best fits for our typical installs.
Why?
- Faster Installs: Our technicians know these models inside and out.
- Better Support: Troubleshooting is easier when you deeply understand the gear.
- Minimal Downtime: We keep key models in stock so we can replace or install without waiting on shipping delays.
- Consistency for Clients: Fewer surprises, more reliability.
The G6 Dome is our newest addition to this trusted lineup — joining the ranks alongside the G6 Turret and G6 Bullet.
G6 Dome: What’s New?
The G6 Dome brings several upgrades to the table:
Updated Design: A familiar UniFi-style build with a sturdy new mounting plate, weatherproof grommets, and an IP66 rating for outdoor durability.
Better Sensor: The same powerful sensor as the G6 Bullet, G6 Turret, and AI Dome — delivering clearer images, day or night.
Tamper-Proof: More tamper-resistant than its Bullet or Turret cousins, ideal for vulnerable areas.
AI Features: Face, vehicle, and license plate detection — all for smarter surveillance.
Value: At ~$279, the G6 Dome sits nicely between the G5 Dome and AI Dome, giving you premium features without maxing out the budget.
How It Compares
We stacked the G6 Dome up against the G5 Dome, AI Dome, and a few other trusted models. Here’s what we found:
- Daytime: The G6 Dome’s bigger sensor means clearer images, finer detail, and better readability for small text and distant objects.
- Nighttime: Smart IR and image tuning help maintain clarity in low light — just keep that dome glass clean for best results!
- AI vs Non-AI: The G6 Dome adds modern detection capabilities you won’t find on older models — a big plus for futureproofing installations.
While the image gains are incremental (much like upgrading a phone), the added AI functionality makes the G6 Dome a smart choice for new installs or upgrades where those features matter.
Should You Upgrade?
If you already have G5 Domes working well, there’s no need to rip them out tomorrow. But if you’re adding cameras, expanding coverage, or want advanced AI features — the G6 Dome is an excellent choice.
We recommend pairing it strategically: use G6 Domes where AI or extra tamper resistance is important and mix in G6 Turrets or Bullets elsewhere to balance cost and coverage.
Final Thoughts
We’re excited to add the G6 Dome to our limited, trusted camera lineup. It hits the sweet spot for quality, durability, AI capability, and ease of install — which means less downtime, fewer headaches, and more peace of mind for you.
